Two examples of 9th grade creative projects from a recent seminar, U.S. History Since 1900. Both are copies of Norman Rockwell paintings. Solomon Bennett’s, “The Problem We All Live With,” shows Ruby Bridges on her way to school in New Orleans in 1960 (we’ve included only a detail of the work). Ruby Lamond’s copy of “Mother’s Day Off” is Rockwell’s first Saturday Evening Post cover and, perhaps, a subtle comment on parenting.
